John Barry is a partner and CEO of Barry, Evans, Josephs & Snipes. He works closely with clients and advisors to create, evaluate, and manage insurance portfolios designed to preserve the things that matter the most and help provide safe crossings to their goals.
John graduated, with honors, from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with a BS in Business Administration. Soon after, he began his insurance career with Home Life Insurance Company of New York in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1985, John returned to Charlotte, North Carolina, and joined BEJS. He is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, National Association of Insurance Financial Advisors, and the Charlotte Estate Planning Council. Besides being a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), John is a past board member of AALU and past Chairman of the AALU Audit Committee.
In 1990, John became a shareholder of M Financial Group, one of the Nation’s premier financial services distribution companies serving ultra-affluent individuals and Fortune 1000 companies through an exclusive network of successful and innovative, independent financial services firms. In 2011, John was elected to the Board of Directors of M Financial Group, on which he now serves as Vice-Chairman, and he currently serves on the Product Development Committee.
John is very active in his church and community. Currently, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the North Carolina Chapter of The Nature Conservancy (past Chairman). He was also a past Chairman of both the Charlotte Latin School Board of Trustees and the Johnston Memorial YMCA. An avid back-packer and mountain biker, John and his wife, Anne, reside in Charlotte and have four children: Elizabeth, Hannah, John, Jr., and Sarah.
